Care Dynamics – A History of Innovation
The 7-year history of Care Dynamics is one of innovative, technically excellent, and highly motivated people – people helping to redefine patient logistics in the healthcare sector and help hospitals optimise their resource utilisation by applying state-of-the-art planning methodologies and decision support to achieve new levels of operational excellence and success.
2013 – Care Dynamics enters the UK market. In collaboration with EY (formerly Ernst & Young LLP), a leading multinational consulting firm, Care Dynamics starts a hospital-wide Tactical Planning deployment project at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London, United Kingdom, following a successful completion of an Opportunity Assessment of the Trust’s operational performance across the patient-logistics chain.
Care Dynamics’ Operations Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with EY, successfully completes an Opportunity Assessment Study at the VieCuri hospital in Venlo, Netherlands. As part of VieCuri’s focus on operational excellence, Care Dynamics has been selected to perform analytic assessment of the hospital’s performance in the OR and in the clinical-admissions wards, and evaluate the hospital’s service-levels in terms of patient’s waiting-times and queues-lengths.
Care Dynamics unveils DynamicPlanner™ version 3.0, which include a brand new User Interface (UI). After months of meticulous design and development work of our R&D team, the new UI is introduced in the Major release of November, 2013.
Care Dynamics starts a new Joint Development Project (JDP) with the Orthopaedics Centre East Netherlands (OCON), in Hengelo/Almelo, Netherlands. Following up on a successful collaboration in the past, the new JDP targets operational excellence and streamlining of patient flows at the OPD.
2012 – Care Dynamics successfully completes two large-scale Tactical Planning implementation projects in the Netherlands, at the Rijnstate hospital in Arnhem, and at the Zaans Medical Centre (ZMC) in Zaandam. Both projects were conducted in collaboration with EY.
Hospital Group Twente (ZGT) reports realising consistent savings of €9 million annually in the last 3 years, facilitated by the Tactical Planning process and decision support tools of Care Dynamics. Main contribution to the savings are OR and bed optimisation. To-date the Hospital Group managed to close over 150 beds (more than 15% of the total staffed beds), while simultaneously reducing length-of-stay by more than 12% and improving OR productivity by of close to 20%.
2011 – DynamicPlanner™ goes live at Rijnstate hospital, in Arnhem, Netherlands.
DynamicPlanner™ goes live in Zaans Medical Centre (ZMC) in Zaandam, Netherlands.
Care Dynamics releases version 2.0 of its flagship decision support software DynamicPlanner™. The new release includes an Enterprise version of the software, based on Microsoft’s SQL-Server as the underlying database. It also includes improved forecasting algorithms in the software’s Forward View module.
2010 – Care Dynamics’ Operations Intelligence Unit launches a new diagnostics service at Maxima Medical Centre (MMC) in Eindhoven, Netherlands. DynamicPlanner™ is implemented at MMC to facilitate this new service.
Care Dynamics’ Operations Intelligence and Operations Consulting Units successfully complete an Opportunity Assessment Study at the Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. The study focuses on the potential to realise the highest possible bed-utilisation, while simultaneously avoiding admission-stops and optimising the deployment of nursing-staff across the clinical wards. In performing the critical quantitative analysis the project team makes extensive use of Care Dynamics’ powerful suit of software applications, including DynamicPlanner™ and the special-purpose Admission Data Analyser (ADA).
Care Dynamics, in collaboration with EY, successfully completes the Tactical Planning implementation project at the two hospitals of the Hospital Group Twente (ZGT), in Almelo and Hengelo, Netherlands. The Hospital Group reports realising savings of €5-6 million in 2009, the first year of going-live.
Following the successful completion of their first joint project, Care Dynamics and EY sign an exclusive cooperation agreement in the Netherlands. The companies intend to jointly exploit Care Dynamics’ methodology globally, by incorporating Tactical Planning and DynamicPlanner™ as unique differentiators in EY’s healthcare offering.
2009 – Care Dynamics, in collaboration with EY, starts a large-scale Tactical Planning implementation project at Hospital Group Twente (ZGT), in Almelo and Hengelo, Netherlands.
DynamicPlanner™ goes live simultaneously at the two hospitals of the Hospital Group Twente (ZGT), in Almelo and Hengelo, Netherlands.
Care Dynamics releases the first version of its Admission Data Analyser™ (ADA), a special-purpose analysis framework designed to process large amounts of admission data, and generate – using highly sophisticated algorithms – analytics of admission statistics, bed-occupancy and length-of-stay.
2008 – Care Dynamics releases version 1.0 of its flagship decision support software DynamicPlanner™. The new release includes a state-of-the-art Optimizer module, designed to optimise OR and bed utilisation simultaneously and generate optimal OR Master Plans (OR-Blueprints) accordingly.
Care Dynamics successfully completes its first implementation project at Westfriesgasthuis hospital (WFG) in Hoorn, Netherlands. The hospital reports achieving a 10% reduction in the number of clinical beds across the facility as a result of Care Dynamics’ Tactical Planning process and decision support tools. This is possible due to the hospital's new capability to plan patient logistics, and hence significantly reduce the variability in bed utilisation, while optimising simultaneously overall performance of the critical logistics segment in the operating complex and clinical beds.
2007 – Care Dynamics B.V. is Incorporated in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Care Dynamics releases the first prototype version of DynamicPlanner™ – a first in kind decision support software to assist hospital planners to plan hospital operations in the tactical time horizon. DynamicPlanner™ is designed based on proprietary and highly sophisticated supply chain planning and optimisation algorithms, to match the exact functional needs of Care Dynamics’ unique Tactical Planning methodology.
Care Dynamics starts a Joint Development Project with its first customer, Westfriesgasthuis hospital (WFG) in Hoorn, Netherlands. As part of the project Care Dynamics deploys its unique Tactical Planning business process in WFG, and implements DynamicPlanner™, its state-of-the-art decision support tool.
